Features of the Masterbuilt 20075315 Front Controller Smoker

This electric smoker has a number of key features that make it stand out including:

  • 975 square-inch Cooking Space
  • Electric Heating Unit of 1,200 Watts
  • Four Cooking Racks
  • Front-Access Drip Catching Pan and Water Bowl
  • RF Remote Control to Monitor Cooking up to 100 feet away
  • Blue LED Light for seamless viewing, even in direct sun
  • Smooth wood chip system tray
  • Fully insulated for maximum smoke exposure to your food
  • Back wheels for simple relocation

It is worthwhile to take a closer look at these features to explain how each can truly benefit the end user.

The product design is one of the biggest benefits to selecting this particular electric cooker over other options. With four adjustable cooking racks, it widens the variety of meats that can be smoked, as larger cuts can be accommodated by simply removing or readjusting the rack heights. The size of the cooking space is also generous and the insulation helps ensure that your meats will be thoroughly and evenly smoked. The LED display is one of its most unique features and will definitely come in handy when choosing where it will live. With an LED control panel, there won’t be any hesitation in placing it in the direct sunlight as you’ll always be able to read it.

Another fantastic feature is the RF Remote Control, as it allows you to actually walk away from the smoker while continuing to monitor cooking temperature, time and even the internal light. I personally really appreciate this feature, as I tend to use this product most when entertaining guests for a big gathering. The fact that I’m able to walk away and join in the conversations without worrying about overcooking the precious cuisine is priceless to me.

Assembly, Cleaning & Maintenance

Assembly is my least favorite part of buying new gadgets, and though in full transparency assembling this may be a bit time consuming, the easy-to-follow instructions that are provided take out any of the guess work. While a 73-pound cooker may sound heavy, the two back wheels make it seamless to move from point A to point B if necessary (though long distance moves once built is not recommended.)

For me, the most dreaded part of cooking is cleaning, but this is not the case with the Masterbuilt 20075315 Front Controller Smoker. Firstly, the front-access drip pan really shortens the clean-up process as it allows you to quickly and seamlessly dispose and wash out that residue. In addition, the brackets holding the trays in place have a simple clip mechanism to slide out the trays for washing after use. You won’t want to use harsh chemicals, so either a hot water/apple cider vinegar mix or even plain soap and water will do the trick

Opportunities for Improvement

Though this is arguably one of the best options on the market, there are two factors that I wish would be improved. The first one is the capacity of the wood tray. Though it operates very smoothly, the maximum number of wood chips tends to last only about 45 minutes or so. If you’re looking to do a lengthy smoke, you may need to add chips a few times or soak them in the water prior to loading them to make them last longer. In addition, when using the smoker, though the glass front is great in theory, after a while, the smoking and moisture clouds the glass anyway. This element will definitely have to be cleaned after every use. Overall though, every pro outweighs these minor cons.

Final Thoughts

Not only is the Masterbuilt a high-quality smoker, but is also one of the best priced, especially given the value it brings users. The design elements were well thought out, making it both simple to use and convenient to clean. Isn’t that the ideal combination? When investing in a Masterbuilt 20075315 Front Controller Smoker, you can rest assured that authentic and tasty smoky flavor is easily attainable.
